The General Data Protection Legislation

We don't usually send you formal newsletters, but we are writing to let you know that changes are shortly to be implemented in the way that organisations collect, store and process your personal data. From 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force and applies to all organisations that use personal data. The way in which these Regulations apply will vary with the justification (the lawful basis) for requesting and holding information, and the nature of that information.

You have in the past requested to be kept up to date with information about Biggar Little Cinema. Your name, email address and, for some individuals, postal address is therefore on our mailing list of those we may contact to provide information.

Biggar Little Cinema will comply with the GDPR from 25 May in relation to the above. We will rely on the ‘legitimate interest’ basis for holding and processing personal data. This means that it is in the interests of both you and Biggar Little Cinema that we are able to contact you via newsletters, etc to provide information.

We do not, and will not, share this information with other organisations. We will contact you in such a way that none of the other recipients of the communication will be able to identify you. Although we hope that you will continue to be happy to receive information from us, all of the communications to which this notice refers, including this one, include an unsubscribe option.

We believe that this approach keeps things clear and simple for us all. You do not need to do anything in response to this message – we will continue to communicate as we have been doing, unless you choose to unsubscribe.

You may also wish to read our 'Legal and Privacy Policy' which is available on our website at www.biggarlittlecinema.org.uk/about-us.html.

If you have any questions or concerns about the above, please contact us at secretary@biggarlittlecinema.org.uk.

Our 2018/19 Season of Films

We have held our ticket price at £6 and our membership price at £30 since we began in 2011. However, due to rising costs beyond our control, we have to make a small increase for our new season.

From our October film, tickets for each performance will be available from Hamiltons Newsagents or at the door for £7, or membership for the whole season of six films is available for £35, a saving of £7 on the ticket price and offering six films for the price of five.

Please join us for our new season by clicking here for membership details.

We have another excellent line-up for our 2018/19 season - a multiple Oscar and BAFTA-winning drama, two true-life stories, and three wonderful British comedies, one of them featuring the return of one of the UK's favourite characters! Please click on the posters below to read more about each film.

About Us

Biggar Little Cinema was founded in February 2011, and is run as a community cinema on a non-profit basis.

As a not-for-profit organisation, our aim is to disburse all the surplus from our screenings as charitable donations, to local organisations and Rotary projects. So far, with your help, we have raised over £22,000.

We also aim to provide the opportunity for members of an isolated rural community to enjoy good films without having to make a round trip of 60 miles or more to the commercial cinema.

Our films are shown in high-resolution digital quality, and projected using the latest digital equipment on to a full-size cinema screen. To match the exceptional quality of our picture, our sound is Dolby stereo using high definition loudspeakers. The Corn Exchange is well-known as an excellent venue, with very comfortable cinema-style seating and a cosy atmosphere. A full bar is available both before and after each screening, with a lounge area for relaxing and chatting with friends. All in all, Biggar Little Cinema offers a perfect location - and all proceeds go to support local organisations and Rotary projects.
