31st March 2017 at 7.30pm and Saturday 1st April 2017 at 7.30pm.
The film stars Meryl Streep as Florence Foster Jenkins, a New
York heiress who became an opera singer known for her painful
lack of singing skill. Hugh Grant co-stars as her husband, St.
Clair Bayfield, and supporting cast members include Simon Helberg,
Nina Arianda and Rebecca Ferguson.
In
the 1940s, New York socialite Florence Foster Jenkins dreams of
becoming a great opera singer. Unfortunately, her ambition far
exceeds her talent. The voice Florence hears in her head is beautiful,
but to everyone else it is dreadful! Her husband goes to extreme
lengths to make sure his wife never finds out how awful her voice
truly is. When Florence announces her plans for a concert at Carnegie
Hall, St. Clair soon realizes that he's facing his greatest challenge
yet.
Filming
began in May 2015, and the premiere was held in London on 12 April
2016. The film was released on 6th May 2016 in the United Kingdom,
13th July in France and 12th August in the United States.
