News about our October film and about membership for our 2015/16 Season |

The first film in our new season is What We Did on Our Holiday (12A), a superb BBC comedy film starring David Tennant, Rosamund Pike, and Billy Connolly. It is Directed by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, the makers of the BBC TV series 'Outnumbered'. What We Did on Our Holiday is being shown in The Corn Exchange on Friday 30th October 2015 at 7.30pm and Saturday 31st October 2015 at 7.30pm. Doug and Abi are taking their three children on a trip to Scotland for a big family gathering. They are in the midst of a difficult divorce, and have asked the kids to keep it a secret from their extended family. But as the inevitable feuds kick in, a completely unexpected turn of events involving the children causes further tensions to rise to the surface. And with the repercussions that ensue - hilarious and emotional in equal measure - the family are forced to put aside their differences and work together or else risk losing what they hold most dear. The film received great praise from the critics as a classic British comedy. 'The script has winning sentimentality and a morbidly funny Ealing flavour. [It has] sincerity and genuine charm': The Telegraph. 'It’s impossible not to enjoy this big-hearted and sweet-natured British family movie from Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin - ambitious and likable family fun': The Guardian. What We Did on Our Holiday was filmed on location in Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands between 27th June and 2nd August 2013. The film was released in the UK on 26th September 2014. Admission is £6, with tickets available from Hamiltons Newsagents and at the door on the evening, subject to availabilty. |

Thank you very much for your continued support! About Us Biggar Little Cinema was founded in February 2011, and is run as a community cinema on a non-profit basis. As a not-for-profit organisation, our aim is to disburse all the surplus from our screenings as charitable donations, to local organisations and Rotary projects. So far, with your help, we have raised over £12,000, and we anticipate making further donations at our October screenings. We also aim to provide the opportunity for members of an isolated rural community to enjoy good films without having to make a round trip of 60 miles or more to the commercial cinema. Our films are shown in high-resolution digital quality, and projected using the latest digital equipment on to a full-size cinema screen. To match the exceptional quality of our picture, our sound is Dolby stereo using high definition loudspeakers. The Corn Exchange is well-known as an excellent venue, with very comfortable cinema-style seating and a cosy atmosphere. A full bar is available both before and after each screening, with a lounge area for relaxing and chatting with friends. All in all, Biggar Little Cinema offers a perfect location - and all proceeds go to support local organisations and Rotary projects.
