We kick off our 2011/12 season with True Grit, a new adaptation of the Charles Portis novel published in 1968. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Hailee Steinfeld and Barry Pepper. The film was directed in 2010 by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, whose films include Blood Simple, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, A Serious Man and O Brother, Where Art Thou? True Grit was nominated for ten Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jeff Bridges), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Hailee Steinfeld), Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing. To round off the Biggar Little Festival week, True Grit is being shown in The Corn Exchange at 7.30pm on Sunday 30th October and Monday 31st October 2011. Admission is £6, with tickets available from Brydens Newsagents and at the door on the evening, subject to availabilty. |

Membership for our 2011/12 Season
If you have already joined - many thanks for your support! If you haven't yet joined, we would like to ask you to support us by becoming a member. It's great value and helps us in raising funds for both local and Rotary projects.
By popular demand, we are having two screenings of each of our films, each being shown on two consecutive evenings as above. There are still memberships available for the season for the second screening, and details on how to join are given below.
Membership is available for £30, a saving of £6 on the ticket price for the six films, and effectively giving six films for the price of five.
For non-members, tickets may be purchased from Brydens or at the door, subject to availability.
